Lughnasadh Activities for Children

Welcome to our Lughnasadh section!

Lughnasadh is a Pagan festival which celebrates the first harvest of the year. Pagans accept that the long, hot summer days are coming to an end. Fruits are ripe for picking and grains are ready to be gathered. Grain and corn are important symbols for this celebration.

As with so many Pagan festivals, the Christian religion adopted it, and called it “Lammas”, which means “loaf-mass”, when newly-baked loaves of bread are placed on the altar.

Pagans celebrate Lughnasadh on 31st July.
