High quality teaching resources from experts to enhance engagement and help implement a rich, diverse curriculum

GoldNon-fiction: Treasure Island

This resource has been produced in collaboration with the National Association for the Teaching of English (NATE). The Teaching Sequence for Writing is still the recommended approach to the teaching of reading and writing.

It will provide multiple and meaningful opportunities for children to practise reading different texts in subject-specific contexts, ‘reading as a reader’. They will explore examples of balanced arguments and explore techniques and structure, ‘reading as a writer’. And then have a go at their own non-fiction writing.

This resource can be easily adapted to the needs of your class, and can cover several lessons. It comprises a PDF file, which indexes the accompanying PowerPoint and provides worksheets, including the 'Tell-Me Grid'; the PowerPoint presentation, the main body of the resource; a Word document, with further worksheets.

The original illustrations are supplied by kind permission of Stella Perrett, Radical Cartoons. The links within the resources were correct at the time of publication (November 2022).
