Scissor Skills

Welcome to our Scissor Skills section on iChild!

Children will learn to use scissors during preschool and primary school. This helps their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, which in turn supports handwriting. Using scissors also develops bilateral coordination (using both sides of the body at the same while each hand performs a different task).
Many of our crafts require scissors, and the ones in this section have been specially selected to encourage the children's skills to progress from easy to more complex activities.

Safety: Ensure cutting is supervised until children are confident; Use safety scissors; Tell children to keep their eyes on what they are cuttng - if they want to look up, stop cutting!
